There are still another 966 Earth years before Okaara sees the beginning of a new year. It comes with the territory of orbiting around a blue super-giant star... but here's to my old home, Earth. To the blue marble of 2814, home of humanity and birthplace of a great deal of Avarice - to you, a Happy New Year, a Happy 2016.
In this time of rebirth, this time of celebration and renewal, it's a tradition to make resolutions, to make promises as to what you can do to change the way you live your lives for the better. Though we are a species almost incapable of holding to those promises... to you, I pledge just a few small, insignificant thoughts.
Though hope comes in small doses here in 2828, what I wish for you is that your lives are happy and healthy, that you continue to make money and acquire the things that make you continue to thrive, but not at the expense of your well-being. I hope that you truly understand and value the people around you, and the wealth that you might otherwise take for granted. I hope that you can focus on what you truly need, consume only what that need entitles, and the fringes remaining after your necessity... I hope that you pass them along to the next person needing.
There is an unexplainable, infinite amount of things you could have within this vast universe... but only a very few very small things that truly merit your want. It's better to see the value in those few things, those people or places or experiences that contribute to your memories and your existence than to miss them only after they are lost.. after someone like me, or my friends here see the worth within it before you do...
Here's to hoping your 2016 is great. I hope that you return here to witness the story of all of my crazy compatriots and myself, to see the end, to see the beginning... May all of the spectrum touch your life, may they bloom and may you overcome and relish every one, because that is life, and life is the most valuable asset you can have.
